I recently read an article about small businesses who support local charities. The author encouraged business owners to tell customers and prospects about the support because, simply put, customers care. He summed up his point by saying “if you did it, and you didn’t tell anyone, you didn’t do it.”
Anyone who prints on environmentally sustainable papers should take that to heart. There are three globally recognized organizations that certify papers that come from well-managed forests adhering to strict environmental and socio-economic standards. (Forest Stewardship Council, Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification and Sustainable Forestry Initiative.)
Each organization allows you to place their certification logo on your marketing pieces. Their recognizable logos tell your prospects what you are doing to run a sustainable business.
Of course, “doing it” is the most important thing. But if you’re going to do it, you may as well tell others and get some credit for it.
